Bruce W. Norris recently
moved his home base to Florida a few years ago. Clients as well as freinds mourned the move as our city, Washington DC lost one of it's best artistic talents and a fine fellow as well. Bruce had been working in Florida
from January through March at hotels in Clearwater for
several years.
Bruce, a native of DC has
been an active and well respected artist, working in the
Baltimore-Washington area for more than 20 years. Bruce has developed
a reputation for quality, meeting deadlines and also has a highly
innovative stylized treatment of subject matter. His satirical wit is
pinpoint accurate, even when poking fun at himself.
His Illustrations for many
notable Local and International Companies, hark back to his five year
stint as staff Illustrator for the "Nuclear Utilities Services"
company of Rockville, Md. during the 70's. His work on training films
for employees of the nuclear industry, helped infuse the typically
boring presentation of technical information with a satirical point
of view and light hearted antics. His work has likewise adorned the
covers of newsletters, magazines and other periodicals. Bruce's
illustrations for advertisements have appeared in numerous magazines
and local newspapers, including the Washington Post and the
Washington Times.
As a Caricature Artist he
has sketched most of the notables of business and government; as well
as stage, television and film personalities working in and visiting
our Nations Capitol and the city of Baltimore. Highly skilled and
rapid at catching the essence of a client or situation, he has
secured his reputation as one of the premier caricature artists in
this area. He is highly sought after for social functions, political,
corporate and personal parties, as well as religious occasions such
as Bar Mitzvahs / Bat Mitzvahs.
As a painter, Bruce Norris
has gained a reputation for taking a hard look at daily life in
America. His depictions of the body fitness industry, Generation X,
art gallery openings, sea side resorts and public transportation, to
mention a few, show the sad but humorous lives of everyday people
absorbed in an urban American lifestyle. His one man and group shows
have been held at many of the best venues including the Museum of
Contemporary Art and the National Press Club.
Bruce has an avid interest
in acting and enjoys performing in theater productions as well as
small parts in television and film. He was a regular background
detective in the hit TV series "Homicide" which was filmed in
Baltimore. It was during this time, he developed a love for Baltimore,
which has prompted his move there for sesvderal years. A long time film fascination combined
with his experience in front of the camera make him a well of
information about current media. |
